Add images of your own work or references, then select one to classify it with the Iris taxonomy. Choose techniques yourself or ask Iris to suggest some; suggestions are only added when you accept them, and each keeps a note of where it came from.

An image has one or two primary techniques, drawn as solid lines; supporting techniques are dotted. Write what in the image carries each technique. The properties you mark appear on the line.

Taxonomy shows where each technique sits in Iris: the domain it works through (what it acts on, such as color and light, arrangement, space, people, meaning or culture) and the operation it serves. Select any of them to read it and explore other techniques there. The + on a technique brings curated library examples onto your map; select one to follow its other techniques.

Auto-arrange lays everything out as the Iris tree. The + adds images, techniques, notes, text, arrows and shapes. Drag empty space to pan; scroll or pinch to zoom. Shift-click adds to a selection; Shift-drag selects an area. Drag any selected item to move the group. Click empty space to clear. Hold Space to pan from anywhere. ⌘Z undoes, ⇧⌘Z redoes.

Choose Write your own technique to make a placeholder. You can name it, describe it, connect it to your images and later replace it with an Iris technique. Select a connection to bend its curve or change either end. Auto-arrange also resets custom curves.

Maps and their images save to your account. A temporary browser recovery copy protects unfinished saves; it is not a separate map destination. Export an image or explicitly create a shared preview. Uploads are not automatically published in the shared library. Read about uploads and storage.

Measurement suggestions run on your device and cover a few techniques. When AI suggestions are enabled, added images and their notes are sent to Anthropic for a reading informed by Iris definitions and reviewed examples. You choose which suggestions to assign.
