This notice describes how Modern Art Direction handles information for Iris — A Taxonomy of Visuals at visuals.modernartdirection.com. For privacy questions or account-deletion requests, email help@modernartdirection.com.
Information is used to create and manage accounts, provide details and exports to accounts with active access, maintain security, troubleshoot the service, respond to requests and improve the visual collection. Registering does not subscribe you to marketing. During account creation, you may separately choose an optional, unchecked box to receive Modern Art Direction updates. If chosen, our server retrieves your verified account email and optional first name from Clerk and sends them to Kit. Kit provides an unsubscribe link in its messages. We retain your account ID, opt-in timestamp, consent version, form ID and subscription delivery status to record the request and avoid duplicate submissions. Payments and paid memberships are not currently offered by this tool.
My Maps is currently an owner-only preview. It stores uploaded images, map layouts, notes and classifications with your account in private Cloudflare storage. A recovery copy on your device supports continued work when a connection drops. Account maps are not publicly browsable. Creating a shared link publishes a read-only snapshot of the selected map items and their connections; anyone with that link can view it. Notes are excluded unless you choose to include them. You can revoke a link, but revocation cannot recall images someone has already saved. Exported images contain the items you choose to share.
Technique measurements run on your device using a model trained on the Iris library. When AI suggestions are enabled, images you add and their context notes are sent to Anthropic for classification, alongside Iris technique definitions and selected library annotations. Suggestions can be wrong; you decide which to assign. Uploads are not automatically added to the shared Iris library. We may introduce a contribution and review workflow; its terms and controls will be explained before it becomes available.
Deleting a map removes it from your account's map list. Image files can remain in account storage, including when another map uses them; contact us to request complete removal. Clearing browser storage does not delete account maps.
Clerk uses cookies and related storage to support authentication and sessions. The site also stores preferences such as your chosen appearance and a download-name counter in your browser. Unsent feedback and its account ID may be stored locally for retry by the same account. You can clear browser storage or restrict cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may sign you out or prevent login from working.
We use Clerk for authentication and Cloudflare for hosting, image delivery, access-grant and feedback storage. These providers process information needed to perform their services. Google handles Google sign-in when you choose it. Kit hosts our Iris launch waitlist form and processes your email when you request updates; loading the embedded form also sends ordinary network information to Kit. Joining the waitlist does not create a member account or grant library access. Some library and spotlight images load directly from external image hosts; those hosts receive ordinary network request information, including your IP address, when your browser loads an image. Other images are stored or cached through our hosting service, including for exports. Export diagrams are assembled in your browser. Members can create public spotlight links showing selected works and their technique connections. Anyone with a link can view or forward that selection. We store the creator's account ID to control revocation, but do not include that ID or private feedback in the public preview. External links lead to independently operated sites.
Provider information: Clerk data processing terms, Cloudflare privacy policy, Google privacy policy, and Kit privacy policy.
Account information is retained while your account is maintained. You can request access, correction or deletion by emailing the address above. We may need to verify that the request is yours. Some information may need to be retained for security, legal obligations or resolving disputes; service-provider logs and backups follow their applicable retention processes. Clearing browser storage removes locally stored preferences and unsent feedback, but does not delete information already submitted.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or receive your information, object to or restrict certain processing, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to make a request.
Our providers may process information outside your country. We use authentication and hosting services to help protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
We will update this notice when the tool's data practices change, including before introducing materially different uses such as paid memberships or marketing subscriptions.
